Ice Cream Alphabet Sensory Bin

It is officially summer break at our house and this ice cream alphabet sensory bin is making us feel all the summer love!  Summer is magical though, isn’t it?  I love sleeping in just a little later and having a more relaxing morning.  But if you have kids you probably know having no plan for the day can sometimes really back fire.  Which is one reason we keep having a short learning time during the summer and this activity is a perfect fit!

What You Need:

-Ice Cream Alphabet Sensory Bin Printable (free at the end of this post)

Dot Markers

Scissors

How To Play:

Print the recording sheet and the Ice Cream Cards.  Cut apart the Ice Cream Cards.  Next put all the ice cream cards in a sensory bin.  We used rice for our base.  Rainbow colored rice would be super fun!  And we added some ice cream erasers and our ice cream scoop too!

Now it’s time for fun!  We use our dot markers because my son LOVES them.  But if you don’t have any, you could always use mini erasers, markers, or even good old Legos!  Let your child draw a ice cream card out of the sensory bin and find the match on his recording sheet and dot it! Not the sensory bin type?  That’s okay!  Even at our house, some days are just not sensory bin days!  You can also do this activity by hiding the ice cream cards or flipping them over on the table and letting your child pick one at a time!

This freebie comes with uppercase, lowercase and beginning sounds cards.  My son is just starting to learn his lowercase letters, so the first day we played matching uppercase to uppercase and then the next week we did lowercase to uppercase matching.  You do whatever is best for your student!
