Kool Aid Slushies

One of our favorite treats in the summer is to head to Sonic during their happy hour and get some fruit slushies.  They hit the spot on a hot summer day.  And while getting them during happy hour can save a bunch, I figured there had to be a simple way to create this at home.  Not only will you have a yummy drink, but you will get the fun of making it together too!

What You Need for Kool-Aid Slushies:

Ice (I bought a big bag from the store and stored it in our deep freeze so we could make more later in the summer.)

Water

Blender

Sugar

Any Flavor Kool Aid Packet

How To Make Kool-Aid Slushies:

These are actually really simple to make.  But first, let me remind you a few tips when you make any type of food or drink with kids.  First, just emotionally prepare for it to be messier and slower than if you were to do it yourself.  I think most of us know this, but if you are someone like me who loves efficiency, then trust me, you need the mental and emotional reminder.

Next, come up with a system for how you will take turns if you have multiple kids.  We always start with the youngest and then go in the order of the recipe.  The youngest will add the first ingredient and the next youngest the second ingredient.  Continue on just following the recipe.  So I am not picking any favorites.  It is just what the recipe says!

OK.  Now that we have that out of the way, let’s get to work making those slushies!!  Here is the recipe!!

-2 cups cold water

-1/2 cup sugar

-1 Kool-Aid packet

-4 cups of ice

Add everything to the blender and blend it until it hits your desired consistency!

Sip and enjoy!!  This will make about four small servings or two larger ones.
