Alphabet Backpack Buddies

Alphabet Backpack Buddies

This Alphabet Backpack activity is just right for back to school season.  Buying a new backpack is something my kids always look forward to so let’s use those backpacks to build some letter skills!!  We used this activity to practice matching upper and lowercase letters and we also got some handwriting practice for those lowercase letters!  You could easily modify this to just matching lowercase letters by using lowercase letters in your backpack!  See all the details and grab your FREE printable below!

What You Need:

– FREE Backpack Buddies Printable (At the end of this post)

-A Backpack- How cute is THIS one?

Foam bath letters or alphabet magnets

Markers

How to Play:

Print off the Backpack Buddies Printable and grab some markers for your little one to use.

Next, take your alphabet foam letters (or alphabet magnets) and put them in a bookbag.  If you don’t have a new backpack you can use any old backpack or bag too!  No magnets or foam letters?  You can print off the backpack alphabet cards I added to this printable and use them!

Now it’s time to get your child matching letters!  Let them draw a letter from the backpack and tell you the letter name. Next, have your child find the matching lowercase letter on the Backpack buddies printable and trace it with a marker.  (Markers make everything more exciting in our house!)

Keep going until you have matched and traced all the letters in the backpack!
