Movie Making Activity

This Movie Making Activity is our first new Four O’Clock Fun activity for the summer!  We did a early addition of four o’clock fun a few weekends ago so I could get this ready for all of you!  This activity kept my kids busy for my toddler’s entire nap time!  They didn’t ask for screens once!  If that isn’t a recommendation, I don’t know what is!

What You Need for Movie Making Activity:

Movie Making Prompts  (free at the end of this post)

Phone or Tablet with a camera app

Video Editing App (We used Filmora)

Optional costumes and props!

How To Play:

So the first thing you can do is share your movie prompts with your kids.  I have provided four different prompts you can print and use below or you can come up with your own prompt.  You want to make sure you provide them with a scenario they can continue and finish in their own unique way.

Depending on the age of your kids you may want to talk through their ideas with them.  You may want to help them break down their scenes and decide how to shoot each scene.  My kids also wanted to dive into our costumes!  Let them be creative as they put together their costumes!  Then you are ready to film!  If your kids are younger you may need to be the cameraman.  Otherwise, if you are like me, I let my kids loose and they were busy for the next two hours!!

Once your kids are done shooting you can use your favorite editing app to piece all the video clips together.  My kids use imovie a lot at school and it is very user friendly.  We have android devices at home and they used an app called Filmora that worked pretty easily for them.  Once you edit everything together you are done!  Enjoy your movie together!!
