Rhyming Bump Game

As I was finishing out the year teaching Kindergarten, I was looking for FUN ways to review some of the skills my students had learned during the year!  One of those important skills for your kindergarten or preschool kiddos is rhyming!!!!  This game I am sharing with you is a simple bump game.  I used this at my teacher table with each of my small groups, but you could use this at home with your own kids or as a fun end of the year student lead station!

What You Need:

-Free Printable Rhyming Bump Game (free at the end of this post)

Dice

Unifix Cubes

How to Play Rhyming Bump Game

To play this game you will need to print off the free rhyming bump game at the end of this post.  I made two different game boards you can use.  They are both played the same way, but they just have different word families to rhyme.  You can play both or use one now and save one for a review in a few weeks!

Grab a dice and some unifix cubes and it’s time to play!  The first player will roll the dice.  Use the key in the top left corner to see what picture goes with the number rolled.  Then look on the bump board and find a rhyming word.  The player can then put their colored unifix cube on that picture.

Now it’s time for the next player!  They will repeat the same steps that player one did.  If they roll something different they will put their colored unifix cube on the rhyming picture.  But if they roll the same picture, they can bump out player 1’s unifix cube and put their cube in it’s spot.  Eventually if you get a spot you already have your cube on, you can add a second cube of the same color and that spot is now locked and cannot be bumped.

On the directions it says to play until one player has used 10 cubes, but that will vary depending on how many players you are playing with!  In general, the more players you play with the less cubes you will want to give to each player!  Happy rhyming!
