Invisible Clues Activity for Kids

July 21, 2022

Invisible Clues

Invisible Clues was one of our most fun activities of the week!  (See all our four o’clock fun activities HERE.) We actually did this activity for the first time last week, but my kids loved it so much, I bumped it up the list to share with you this week!  If your kids love playing detective then they will love this activity!

How To Play:

You will need to set this activity up first.  I am sure many of you have seen the old trick where you write something on paper with a white crayon.  They can’t see what is written, but if they paint over it with watercolors the word becomes visable.

Well, we are taking this activity a step farther today!  What you will do is write down four to five words on the paper that all have something in common.  Think of them as clues for your child!  When you have the words written on your paper, your child can use a paintbrush and watercolors to paint all over the page and uncover the clue words.  What do the words describe or have in common?

We did several different types of clues.  Have you figured out the example in my pictures?  All of the words are things that are red!  So the mystery category is red!  We also did clues that described a member of our family and clues that described a favorite TV show.  You can be creative and think of your own clues.

I would suggest that if you are doing this with multiple kids like I do, that you have them go one at a time.  My daughters who can read could help my younger son and they got to all work together to figure out the clues.
