Hide and Seek with a Twist

Chances are you have played hide and seek before.  But this week’s kid activity is hide and seek with a twist.  This is turning into our summer of “That’s Amazing” because my kids have become obsessed with their YouTube channel.  They love watching their trick shots and I love that they see kids persevere and work towards a hard goal.  And if they love it, I mine as well use some of their ideas for our Four O’Clock Fun!  So thanks to the That’s Amazing crew for this week’s idea!

What You Need for Hide and Seek with a Twist:

A timer or device with a timer for each hider

Big open space

How To Play:

This is basically a cumulative timed hide and seek.  One person closes their eyes and counts just like in the traditional game.  The other players go find places to hide, but they press start on their timer as soon as the counter starts to count.  Each player will let their timer continue until they are found.  Once they are found they will PAUSE their timer.

Once everyone has been found, each player will have their timer paused on the amount of time they hid for that round.  For the next round, pick a new counter.  Once this new counter begins to count, every presses resume on their time so that their time continues from where it left off last round.  Chances are the same person won’t be found first or last each time so the cumulative time each player hid is what you are looking at.  We did four round because we have four people playing.  However many rounds you decide to do, just make sure each player is the counter the same number of times since you don’t accumulate any time when you are the counter.  Happy hiding!
