Preschool Leaf Subitizing Activity
Fall is right around the corner and this preschool leaf subitizing activity will be a perfect match for your preschooler! What is subitizing you ask? Subitizing is the ability to recognize a number of objects without counting them. So you will see in this activity we use dice, dominos, ten frames and base ten blocks to represent numbers 1-10. If your child isn’t quite able to just recognize these numbers, that’s okay too!! I think of it as similar to sight words. With more exposure they will be able to recognize each number without counting!

How to Play:
Print and cut apart the number cards and the individual leaf cards. There are leaf cards for dice, dominos, base ten blocks, written word, and ten frames. You can use them all or only choose a few! You could also add these leaf cards to a fall themed sensory bin to spice things up!
We spread all the leaf cards out and then picked on leaf card. If they can identify it without counting, great! Place it on the matching number card. If not, then it’s okay to count the dots together! Keep going until you have matched all the leaves to the correct number card!
