Save the Bears Counting Mats

As summer winds down, I wanted to share these Save the Bears Counting Mats with you because it combines a few of our favorite activities!  We get to practice fine motor skills, tracking left to right, and counting too!  And to top it off you can add gross motor movement too!

What You Need for Save the Bear Counting Mats:

-Save the Bear Counting Mat Printable (free at the end of this post)

Scissors

-Counting Bears

-Rubber Bands

-Child Tweezers

-Medium Size Container

-Toy Truck (Optional)

How to Play:

Print off the counting mats and set up your counting bear trap.  Take a medium size container and put rubber bands around it randomly.  Then fill it with all your counting bears.  Cut apart your counting mats and set them out on the opposite side of your table or room.

Now let your child use some child tweezers and “rescue” the correct number of bears from the webbed container and put them in the toy truck.  The truck can move from the container across the room to the counting mats where they can be delivered to the correct card.

You can also use this activity to work on color matching skills!  We put a colored dot sticker on each card and then matched the correct number and color for each card!  So many ways to play and learn!
