Letter of the Week Series- Q is for Queen

What letter Q week would be complete without a queen activity!  My middle daughter is classic girlie girl!  Lately she loves picking out her outfits everyday, complete with accessories.  She wants to wear a dress every day even in the middle of winter.  So of course, I wanted to capitalize on her interest in all things girly and make a Queen Letter Game!  Get all the details below so you can play too!

Supplies You Need:

– Queen Board Game and Cards (Free Printable at end of this post)

– Laminator (Recomended)-  I have this laminator and have loved it!

-Laminating Sheets (Recommended)- PLEASE do NOT waste your money on expensive laminating sheets!!!  I was hesitant to get an laminator initiall because I thought the laminating sheets were so expensive  But then I found a great deal on Amazon!  These are the ones I use and they work awesome and so much cheaper than the name brand!

How to Play:

Step 1- Print off the free printable Letter Queen game. (Free at the end of the post.)  I recommend laminating it for durability!  Then cut apart the cards and game boards.

Step 2- It’s time to play!!!  The goal of the game is to be the first person to collect all three picture cards on your game board.

To begin play, give each player a game board and place the game cards face down.

Player 1 draws a card first, if they draw a letter, they can tell everyone the name of the letter they drew!  The Letter Queen loves to hear about her letters!

Player 2 then draws a card and repeats the process.

If a player draws a picture card they get to add it to their game board!  Play continues until one player collects the crown, queen and necklace picture cards.  The first player to collect all three wins!

If a player draws a picture card they already have, they return the card to the middle of the deck, and the other player continues play.

My little queen loved this game!

If your child is ready for a bit of a challenge, you can have them tell you a word that starts with that letter when the draw a card!

If all the letters are too overwhelming for your child, feel free to just use half of the letters!  And I always recommend making letter games fun and not a test!  If you child doesn’t know a letter, just tell them!  We play letter games virtually every day and the consistent exposure to letters is all she, and most children will need to master letter recognition!
