Watercolor Poster Craft
I have always loved watercolors and this watercolor poster craft gives us another way to create and use watercolors. My tween told me when we were done, “I thought this was going to be lame, but it was actually really cool mom.” If that isn’t a seal of approval from a tween then I don’t know what is! Â

What You Need for Watercolor Poster Art:
How To Play:
First, you will want to decide what you want as the main part of your poster. I used a Bible verse, my son wrote his name, one of my daughters wrote a sign for her and her best friend. I would suggest using a quote or something that is black and white so the watercolor will show through. Use a black Sharpie marker to make your design on your cardstock paper.
After you have your Sharpie design done it is time to create our watercolors! Take your gallon zip lock bag and make sure you turn it so the label is on the back side. Use your washable markers and color on the bag. There is no right way to color on your bag, but I tend to like using bigger sections of colors. But let your child go. My only real guideline is to not mix colors. It can quickly turn into a big brown and black mess then!
Next, you will want to put down a layer of paper towel underneath your bag. Your child can take the spray bottle next and spray the bag. You will see the color start to bead up. Just a little water on each area of the bag will do. Then take the bag and flip it over onto your cardstock design. You will want to flip it fast because you have just created watercolor on your bag and it will drip! Push the bag down all over the paper to make sure the color transfers, but you don’t have to let it sit. Just push it down and remove the bag!!
The paper will be wet so you will want it give it a little time to dry. But when you are done you will have a fun watercolor background on your poster! I love how each of ours turned out unique and beautiful.
