Unicorn Color Game

When I saw these adorable unicorn color clipart, I just knew I had to make this Unicorn Color Game!  My toddler isn’t quite ready for these kind of activities yet, but I know the day is coming and I am creating and planning already for when he is ready to start learning colors!  If you have a child that is ready to learn, this game is a great hands on way to start!

What You Need for this Unicorn Color Game:

-Unicorn Color Race Printable (free at the end of this post)

mini erasers or math cubes for player pieces

Scissors

How to Play:

Print off the game board and unicorn cards.  I recommend using cardstock or laminating to make them more durable.  Cut apart the unicorn cards and put them in a pile face down.

Now players will take turns drawing the top card from the unicorn card pile. Identify the color on the card. The player will then move their player piece to the next matching colored spot on the board. (Think like the old school Candy Land game.)  The winner is the first player who makes it all the way around the board to the rainbow.

Ways to Modify this Activity:

There are so many ways to modify activities!  Here are a few I came up with!!

1. If you need more movement in this activity think about hiding the cards all over the house.  Players take turns finding a card, identifying the color and then moving their game piece.

2. If your child is ready to read, make this more of a challenge by printing the cards in black and white and having your child read the color word!!
