Cut and Paste Winter Worksheets

Cut and Paste Winter Worksheets

As I have been out substitute teaching, I have been reminded of some simple skills we can be working on at home with our little learners.  One of those skills that is often overlooked is scissor and glue skills!  These may not seem like the most academically important skills, but the fine motor skills used during these activities and tied to so many practical things your child will need to learn.  Tying their shoes, writing their name, zipping up a coat are all examples of tasks that require these fine motor skills.  And trust me if your child spends ten minutes frustrated as they try to cut in school, their brains and emotions won’t have the stamina left to other important academic work.

So this week I am introducing a new product line with a freebie.  I have five winter themed cut and paste worksheets that will help your child practice not only their scissor and glue skills, but also everything from math and letters, to opposites and shapes.

What You Need:

– Winter Cut and Paste Worksheets (Free at the end of this post)

– Scissors

– Glue

Worksheet #1:

The first worksheet included in this freebie is a winter and summer sort.  Sorting is such a great skill for our young learners to practice.  They are able to identify similarities and differences and group things that are alike.  These are skills they will continue to use as they learn to chunk words when they read and as they learn to tell the difference between ones and decade numbers, and of course endless other things too!!

Worksheet #2:

The next worksheet will help your child practice beginning sounds.  They can cut out the snowflake letters with the letters a-f on them.  Then look at each picture on the page and let them decide what sound each word begins with.  When they glue the matching letter down it will create the whole word!

Worksheet #3:

Math is up next as we practice our cutting and pasting skills.  This worksheet focuses on simple addition problems with totals 1 through 3.  If your child is just beginning to work on addition you may want to provide them with math cubes or other manipulative.  They can use these to physically count out each addition problem.  Your child will cut out the numbers and glue them on top of an equation that equals that number.

Worksheet #4:

Opposites are another important skill for our little learners.  It builds vocabulary and helps them better grasp how language is used in both written and oral language.  So this worksheet will have your child matching pictures of opposite words.  I would recommend going through each word so there is no confusion about what the pictures represent.

Worksheet #5:

This worksheet may be my favorite one of the bunch!  Your child will be back to sorting, but this time they get to build a snowman too!  Cut the snowman pieces and stack them to create a snowman made of circles and a snowman made of squares!  Top your snowman off with a hat that has a circle or square on top.

I hope these free worksheets help you get some important cut and paste practice!  Be on the lookout for more of these themes for cutting and pasting practice every month!
