Memorial Day Color Book
This Memorial Day Color Book is a very simple way to engage your toddler in Memorial Day learning. This color book can help your toddler with color recognition or your older child with reading color words. I purposely used pictures of members of all different branches of the military which could be a spring board for many conversations with your child!

How to Play:
Print off the Memorial Day Color Book Printable. Each page printed will have two different pages of the color book on it. You can cut the pages apart on the black lines. Then you can choose if you want to staple the book on the left side before your child colors the pages or let them color and staple the book together last.
Now your child gets to color! If your child is not a reader yet, you can sit with them and read each page to them. Pause in between each page and let them color the solider on the page in the corresponding color. Then when your toddler is finished coloring, you can sit down and read the whole book! You can even read the words, The solider wears, and let your toddler identify and say the color on each page!
If your child is older, you can let them practice reading the color words on their own. You can lead them to see that the phrase “The solider wears” is repeated on each page and then allow them to read the color word. If they struggle you can help them identify the beginning sound and sound out the whole word. Hope this helps you celebrate Memorial Day in an age-appropriate way with your young learner!
