Letter Q Activity | Alphabet Quilt
This letter Q activity had us practicing fine motor skills with cutting. It gave us an opportunity to practice beginning sounds. And let’s be honest…it’s the only kind of quilt my kids are ever going to see their mom make! 🙂 If you are looking for letter Q activities keep reading for all the details on this free printable.

What you will need to play this letter Q activity:
-Alphabet Quilt Printable (you can grab this at the end of this post)
-Child Scissors- We love these if your child is still struggling with cutting!
How to Play:
First, print off your letter quilt pattern (see below for your FREE copy). I have included versions that match uppercase to uppercase, uppercase to lowercase and beginning sound pictures to uppercase. You can choose whatever level is appropriate to your child. We stuck with just matching upper case to upper case letters.Â
Next, let your little one cut out the COLORED squares. We talked about what a quilt is and how it is made of different colors and patterns.
Luckily for us, big sister had just gotten done doing THIS quilt kit. (Which I definitely reccomend for children who are starting to be able to tie independently.) But having seen this quilt, gave my daughter a good context to understand what we were doing.
After you have cut out the colored squares, let you child start matching them up! When they find a match put glue on the back of the colored square and glue it to the top of the white sheet.
While your child is making matches, make sure you talk with them about the letter names. This conversation is really where the learning happens. If you just give this to your child and walk away, they will be getting good matching practice, but they won’t really be practicing letter identification!Â
