Alphabet Bucks

I came up for the idea for Alphabet Bucks when we were at our awesome Children’s Museum.  My kids’ favorite part is the pretend grocery store   In fact for a long time,  if you asked one of my daughter’s what she wanted to be when she grew up she would tell you a “checker outer”.  So we harnessed that excitement at created our own store where everything is bought with alphabet bucks!!

What You Need to Play Alphabet Bucks

– Alphabet Bucks Printables (Free at the End of this Post).  

-Some type of play cash register (This one is my favorite!)  Or if you are looking for a cheaper option, this one is what we actually used when we played because we have a Minnie Mouse lover in the house!

-Any type of play food or small toy

– Blank Dot Stickers

How to Play:

– First, print off and cut apart your Alphabet Bucks.  Next, set up your store.  You will want at least 26 small toys.  Label each one with a dot sticker with a letter of the alphabet on it.

Now it is time for your child to do some shopping!  You may want to give them a limit to how many things they can buy at once.  We said, you can buy 3 things at a time.  She picked out her three items and brought them to the cash register.

Now it’s time to pay!  Look at the toys label and have your child find the matching Alphabet Buck they can use to purchase the item.  To help with letter recognition make sure you have them tell you what letter Alphabet Buck they are using!

Feel free to reverse roles too!  You go find something for to buy and have your kiddo tell you what letter buck you need to pay with!  This was my future checker-outers favorite!
