Aren’t flamingos such cool animals? My pink-loving daughters sure think so!! This flamingo themed card game is a great activity for a small group or for just you and your child. It incorporates both upper and lower case letters too! And as always you can add in letter sounds if your child is ready! It’s based on the game Go Fish, so if your kids have ever played that, they will pick this up in no time!
What You Need:
– Flamingo Friends Free Printable (at the end of this post)
– Laminator and Laminating Packets– This is an optional step, but I recommend it if you want to play it more than once. I love THIS lamintor and THESE laminating packets. They are more affordable and I have nothing but good things to say about them!
OR
–Cardstock paper– regular paper will be too thin and you will see through the cards easily.
How to Play:
-First, print and laminate (optional) the flaminto cards. If you don’t laminate the cards make sure you print them on cardstock. Regular paper will be too thin and you will easily see through the cards which won’t make a very challenging game!!
-Next deal out the card. Each player gets five cards to start and the remaining cards are put into a pile in the middle of all the players.
– The goal of this game is to get rid of your cards first. You will get rid of cards by making a match. A match is an uppercase and lowercase card for the same letter.
– To begin play, one player will look at their cards and ask if another player has one of the letters they are holding in their hand. If the second player has the matching letter, they give the card to the first player. Then, after putting the match down, the first player gets to go again.
-If player two does not have the matching letter then they tell player one to “find a flamingo”. Player one must then draw a card from the pile and add it to their hand.
-Play continues with each player taking turns asking if someone has one of their cards. The first player to get rid of all their cards wins!
