Summer Handwriting Strips

Summer Handwriting Strips

These summer handwriting strips are a great tool to get some extra summer practice on one of our preschooler’s hardest skills…handwriting.  I think handwriting is a skill that shouldn’t be pushed. However, our kids should be given lots of opportunities and different ways to practice handwriting.  These strips keep things low stress as they give kids the opportunity to trace.  Tracing is much easier for kids than writing a letter on their own and my kids are usually much more receptive to tracing!

What You Need:

– Summer Handwriting Strips Printable (Free at the end of this post)

Laminator (optional)

Laminating Packets

Metal Rings (optional)

– Dry Erase Markers

How to Play:

-First, you want to print your Free Summer Handwriting Strips out.  I always like to laminate these sheets too.  That way you can use them multiple times!  These are a great thing to pull out when you are making dinner or somewhere you need a calm and quiet activity!

-You could leave these as a whole sheet, but I think it is much more fun to cut these apart as strips.  Then you can hole punch the corner of each and then put a metal ring in the hole to make them easy to store and take with you!

– Whenever you are ready to use them, just have your child use a dry erase marker and then wipe it off when they are done!  These strips have both an uppercase set and a lowercase set included so you can practice whichever is right for your child!

And if you child is feeling ready to write on their own, I included two blank strips too.  So they could practice writing their name or just have fun free writing.  If you are looking for more summer learning activities, make sure you check out my Summer Alphabet Activity Mini Bundle HERE.
