Tooth Time Alphabet Activity

Tooth Time Alphabet Activity

February is Dental Health Month so I hope this tooth time alphabet activity will help as you are learning about all things tooth related!  This activity is focused on the skill of letter recognition.  Letter recognition is one of the first skills I focus on with my children.  Learning the names of the letters gives us a vocabulary to start from as we progress into more complicated phonemic awareness activities.  But as always, I have made multiple levels of learning with this game so everyone can find something that is right for them!!

What You Need:

– Alphabet Tooth Printable (Free at end of this post)

-An unused toothbrush

-A laminator and laminating sheets, or a sheet protector to slip your paper in and make it dry erase friendly

Dry erase marker

-Sensory Bin (optional)

How to Play Tooth Time Alphabet Activity:

First, print off your Tooth Time printable.  Cut apart the tooth alphabet cards and laminate the full smile sheet or pop it in a sheet protector.  If you have been here before, you know I love laminators!!  I recommend these laminating sheets.  I have used these for years and have no complaints!!

Next, grab your dry erase marker and start writing the letters of the alphabet on the full toothy smile printable.  If your kiddo isn’t ready for all the letters, just pick a few.  We just focused on matching and identifying capital letters, but if your kiddo is ready for a challenge, you could write lowercase letters and let them match uppercase to lowercase letters.  Or I have included beginning sounds cards that your child could match with upper or lowercase letters.

Now we are ready for the fun!  Put your alphabet tooth cards in a bucket or we love to put them in a sensory bin! Let your child pull one card out.  Have them tell you what letter is on their card and then find and brush the letter off on the tooth sheet.

Keep going until you have found and brushed all the letters!
