Do your kids love getting the mail like mine? Our mailbox is out on the street and everyone always wants to walk with me or (usually) my husband and see what’s in the mailbox! I was struggling with activities for the letter X because it’s the letter X! Not a lot of options. So I got desperate and googled words with x in them and as soon as I saw mailbox I knew we had a winner!
What You Will Need:
– Alphabet Mailbox Printable (Free for email subscribers!)
– Some type of pretend mailbox. You could use a cute one like this. Or we just used a toy we had that had an opening on the top. It doesn’t have to be fancy! Pretend play is great for this age!
–Blank Address Labels cut up and labeled with each letter of the alphabet.
How to Play:
– First, print off the Alphabet Mailbox Printable (at the end of this post) and cut them apart. I used cardstock paper because I wanted them to feel more like postcards, but that is totally optional.
– Next, you will take your address labels and while they are still on the whole sheet, cut each label in half. You can just go all the down the whole sheet! This will make them seem more like stamps. Then, label each “stamp” with a letter of the alphabet.
Then I let her draw a “postcard” out of a bucket one at a time and find the correct “stamp” to match it!
– After she has the correct “stamp” on, she got to mail it by putting it in our pretend mailbox!
