We are back on Letter X again this week!  We all know there aren’t a lot of options when it comes to the letter X!  Instead of trying to use some crazy word your kids won’t know anyway, I decided for the rest of our letter X activities we will focus on words that contain the letter X, usually at the end of the word!  And this week we get 2 X words in one activity!

I got the idea for this activity from a game they play during storytime at our local library.  They use the game to work on colors and they use a mouse and a house, but it was an easy switch to make it work for letter recognition and our letter X words!

What You Need:

– FREE Alphabet Box and Fox Printable (Free for subscribers at the end of this post.)

Large Posterboard

Tape

How to Play:

– Print off your FREE Alphabet Fox and Box Printable.  Cut out each box and fox!

– Grab your posterboard and tape 8 boxes onto it.  You will want to tape the boxes only on the top so you will be able to easily flip the box up and off.

– Next grab your 2 foxes and tape them underneath 2 of the boxes.  We used 2 foxes in the hopes that each of my kiddos playing would find one!  You can use one or two, whatever you like best!  Make sure you kiddos don’t see where you hide the foxe thought!

– Next, you will teach your child this rhyme!

“Little fox, Little fox

Are you in the _____ box?”

You will fill in the box with whatever letter name is on the box you are guessing!

If they get it right, Yay!!  If they don’t find a fox everyone says, “Oh, Man!”  And you try again!

Here is what it sounded like for us!

– Since you only use 8 letter boxes at a time, make sure you play several rounds to practice all your letters!

This rhyme activity is a great way to incorporate some musical elements into your learning too!  I am a BIG fan of that!!
