We are settling into our summer routine here, and I hope you are too! I hope to blog about a few things we have done this summer to help us have a great start! I love being able to have a more relaxed morning, and we have started taking walks every morning so everyone gets some fresh air and exercise before it starts to get too hot! And of course we still have learning activities and plenty of time for play!
This week, I am going to share with you an activity we did for Letter V week! We have worked mostly on letter recognition so we brached out a bit with this activity to incorporate letter sounds too! We definitely have plans to jump more into sounds in the future, but I was surprised how well she did with this already!
What You Need:
– Alphabet Voting Printable (Free for my subscribers at the end of this post)
-Pen or Marker
-Some kind of Voting Box. We just used an old empty kleenex box, but you could go all out get something like this.
How To Play:
– First print off the Alphabet Voting Printable and cut out each ballot.
– Next, you want to prep your child and tell them what to do! We had a little talk about voting and what it is and then I told her she was going to be voting today! On each card, there is a letter and two pictures. Her job is to vote for the picture that starts with the letter on that card!
– The last step is the best part! You have to put your voting card into the voting box to make it official!
Keep going until you have all the cards completed! This was one of the first activities we did exploring letter sounds and I loved that just giving her two options helped her be more successful! Plus, the role playing part of this was really fun for us! You could even make your little one an “I Voted” Sticker! Â
