Summer Shark Counting Activity
Today’s Summer Shark Counting Activity was inspired by my toddler! He has been counting for a little while, but I realized that he hasn’t actually worked with written numbers a lot. So I wanted to create a hands on and simple activity that he could combine these skills. These shark counting card will give your child the chance to count the sharks and practice number identification.Â

What You Need for Shark Counting Cards:

– Scissors
How to Play:
Print off the Summer Shark Counting Activity. I would recommend laminating these pages, especially if you are using them with a younger child or what to use them multiple times! Then cut apart the larger counting cards and the smaller number cards.
I also recommend adding velcro dots to this activity. Add one side to the box in the upper left corner of the large cards and the matching dot to the backside of the smaller number card. Now you can let your child begin counting! They can pick any card and count the shark fins in the water. Once they have counted the fins they can find the matching number card and velcro it to the box in the corner. Keep going until you have matched up all the cards and numbers!
This activity is perfect for little learners because it is simple and yet keeps their hands busy with something to match and do! If you have an older learner you could always skip the number cards and have them write the correct number in the box for an added challenge!
