This week we are finishing up our Letter L Activities with a beginning sound activity! I first did this one with my daughter last summer. I gave her just a few letters at a time to sort through, but now that she is getting ready for kindergarten, I am confident she could handle them all at once! So whatever level your child is at, you can adapt and use this one!
How to Play:
First, you want to print your Alphabet Letter Latter Printable. I recommend laminating these, especially if you want to reuse them later, or you are only using a few letters at a time. Â
I have been using THIS laminator for years and love it!! Definitely worth the investment! Laminate your big sheets and then cut apart the ladder cards and the picture cards. Add velcro dots to each rung of the ladder and to the back of the picture cards.
The next step will depend on what your child is ready for. If I was going to do this with my 3 year old, I would put out 2 or 3 ladders and their matching cards. If your child has mastered most of their letters, go ahead and set them all out! If they are struggling, take some of the ladders and pictures away to help!
Your child’s job is to find which pictures begin with the matching sound on their ladders. When they find a match they can stick it on their ladder. There should be 4 pictures for each ladder. I love watching them begin to hear those initial sounds! It’s such a fun time to watch their brains grow and learn!
