Preschool Made Easy | Apples Theme

I hope you found my first FREE week of Preschool Made Easy helpful and fun.  (You can find it HERE).  I love seeing each of the activities come together in a theme and knowing it is helping other parents like me have consistent, simple, and effective time with your preschooler!  Today I am going to show you a few of our Week 2 apple theme activities.  You can get the whole Apple Theme HERE.

#1- Ten Frame Draw and Dot

As you can see above, one of the things I have made a priority with this curriculum is to give you different options with each activity.  I know from my own children that preschool can include a HUGE variety of learning levels.  So while the math objective for this week is identifying and counting numbers 1-5, I am also going to give you options to extend that to 1-10 or to use number or ten frame cards.

Above you can see our first math activity of the week.  Choose the version that works best for you and put your cards in a favorite sensory bin. Let your child draw a card and dot the matching number on their sheet with a dot marker.

#2- Apple Math Mat

Math Activity number two is so simple, but I am always surprised with how much my preschooler loves it!  Cut out the number cards and have your child count the apples in a box.  Then find the apple with the matching number and cover it.  It seems so simple to us as adults, but they are practicing number recognition and one to one correspondence in this simple activity.  Of course there are options for 1-5 and 1-10.

#3- Build an Orchard

Preschoolers love to build things!  Activity number three helps your preschooler follow the directions on their card to build different apple orchards.  They get a choice of where to put everything on their mat and then you can even let them create their own “recipe card” at the end.

#4- Playdough Math Mat

Playdough is a favorite of my kids, so any time we can incorporate it in learning it always seems to flow into extra independent play!!  Activity number four asks your child to add playdough apples to the tree.  You can use standard number apples or begin to work on your preschooler’s subitizing skills with the finger number cards.

#5- Three in a Row

We are switching over to show you a few of our alphabet activities now.  This fun two player game is a great way to work on letter recognition with your preschooler.  Spin the spinner and then identify and cover the letter.  But be careful because the other player could bump you out of that spot at any time!  First player to 3 in a row wins!  Boards for all letters are included!

#6- Alphabet Roll and Color

This next activity is not only great letter recognition practice, but  it also gives your child fine motor practice while they are coloring.  Have your child roll the dice and then find and color the matching apple in the appropriate color.  Each letter is included on a worksheet, so you can do as many or as few as you want!

#7-Pick and Trace

Tape the apple cards on the wall and let your child pick them one at a time.  You could even create a tree with posterboard to and tape the apple cards onto it.  Each time your preschooler “picks” an apple they can find the match on their recording sheet and trace it.  Options for the entire alphabet are also included.

#8- Alphabet I Spy

Get your little detectives to work with this I spy activity.  Search the picture for each of the letters.  Once they find a letter, they can find the match on the recording sheet and dot it with a dot marker.  Multiple options for different levels are included!

These 8 activities and more are included in the Preschool Made Easy Apples Theme!
