Fourth of July Easy Art
Before I share with you about this week’s Fourth of July easy art, I have a confession to make… I am not really great at art! But, one of my children has such a creative spirit, that I have made it a real point to incorporate more art into our days. If you are like me and art makes you feel a little uneasy, I have found one of the keys is to keep it simple!! And if you tried our Thank You Cards last week, you will see this has some similarities! So let’s dive into this fourth of july easy art project!

How To Play:
First, take your cookie sheet and cover it with shaving cream. You will want to cover the entire pan so you can’t see any of the pan. I then took a kitchen knife and smoothed the top out so it would be easier to work with.
Next, you can take your food coloring and pick out the red and blue colors. Make drops all over the shaving cream with your red and blue. I started with some and ended up making a lot more dots. Just remember that any white spots in your shaving cream will be white spots on your art.Â
Once you have your food coloring dots, take your toothpick and instead of mixing everything around like we did last week, make Xs across the colored dot. This will give it more of a Fourth of July fireworks look!Â
Now it’s time to make your art! Take a clean sheet of card stock paper and place it on your shaving cream creation. Let it sit for a few seconds and then peal it off. You will have shaving cream residue on your paper. I recommend having paper towel ready for you to put your creation on!
Take a clean kitchen knife and wipe the shaving cream off your paper. You will be left with a fun Fourth of July themed print! Â
If you have younger kids you can stop at the print, but if you have elementary aged kids you can take it one step farther. We drew a heart on our print and cut it out. Then we glued the heart to another piece of paper. We talked about why we love our country. This was a great conversation for my big kids to really realize how other kids around the world don’t get to experiece all the blessings they do! We wrote some of the words we talked about around the outside of the heart to complete our artwork!
