One of the places we try to go every week is our local library.  They have a great story time for kids and my kids love picking out new books to read each week.  The library can be as short or as long as you want.  Even when I had newborns, the library was the one place we would try to go.  If the baby was fussy we could just grab a few quick books and go, but at least we got out of the house!  Now that my crew is older, we love sticking around and playing with their toys after story time!

I say all of that because it is our love for the library that inspired this week’s activity!  My little girl loved pretending to be a librarian in this book themed game.  Grab your free printable letter B activity at the end of this post and you can play too!

What You Need:

– Alphabet Book Match Printable (FREE at the end of this post)

Blank Address Labels

-26 Books (Any book will work!)  Or if you are looking for book for each letter of the alphabet you should check THESE out.  Super cute and perfect for activities like this!

How to Play:

– Print and cut your Alphabet Book Printable (free at the end of this post).

– Next, take your blank address labels and add one letter to each label.  You should have 26 labels, one for each letter of the alpahbet.  I used uppercase letters so she could match them with the lowercase letter book cards, but you can do whatever matches your child’s ability level.  Then take any 26 books and put one address label on each book.

– Now you want to prep your child for the activity.  Tell them they are going to be the librarian today!  At our library you can reserve books and then they are put on the hold shelf.  There is a little piece of paper put in each hold book with a name on it so you can easily find your book.  You child will take one reserved book card and look through your books for the matching book.

– You can set up your labeled books on a book shelf, put them all in a tote like we did, or even just set them out on the table.  My daughter loved putting the reserved slip in the book and then checking out the book for me!
