Back to School Punch Cards
We are bringing on the fine motor practice with this week’s Back to School Punch Cards! School has been in session for a few weeks here, but as any teacher will tell you, they are still in the middle of back to school season! These first few weeks of school are where your kids are learning new routines. That may be new routines and expectations in a public or private school classroom or it may be learning a new school routine with you at home! Whatever your situation, you and your child may be feeling a little tired from all the newness! This week’s back to school punch cards are a simple way to add some calm while still practicing important skills!

How to Play:
Print off the Back to School Punch Cards and cut them apart. You will see on the border of each card are holes. This is where you child can use a hole punch to punch a hole in the circle. I HIGHLY recommend using a reduced effort hole punch! We use THIS one. We used a regular one the first time I did a hole punch activity years ago. It was a big mistake! Trust me that the reduced effort version is worth the 7 dollars! Â
I have to admit that it can be easy to overlook fine motor skills when you begin to teach your little one! It is so fun to see your toddler or preschool child begin to recognize letters and numbers. Fine motor skills are as easy to see progress in, but they are SO important. Squeezing this hole punch may seem silly to an adult, but our kids need to strengthen the muscles in their hands so they will be able to do things like hold a pencil, button their shirt, zip a jacket, tie their shoes, and even some day in the future type at their computer.Â
So don’t believe that handing these cards to your child and letting them punch while you get something from your list done isn’t important! You are just a multi-tasking master! 🙂 There are twelve cards included in this set so there are lots of muscle building punches awaiting!
