We are halfway through July and making our way through Letter M Week here on the blog! We have less than a month left before the kids head back to school and we are trying to savor every moment of our summer fun! Our activity this week includes those alphabet magnets we all have somewhere in our house. Somewhere along the lines, I got smart and got a set that I only use for learning activities! My kids have some they can play with on the fridge, but let’s be real those will always have some missing! So if you don’t have a set you can set aside, grab some like THESE.
What You Need:
– Magnet Beginning Sounds Match Printable (Free at the end of this post)
How to Play:
-First, you want to print your Magnet Match Printable out. You could definitely use cookie sheets if you want to get that magnet feel, but I wasn’t feeling that ambitious! Grab your magnets and bolt too!
-We played with four kids so I gave each child one Magnet Match sheet. They then took turns “fishing” for magnets. The stuck the bolt in and one magnet attached to it. They got to look at the cards out and see if there was a match anywhere. Â
– If they had found a picture that began with their letter, they got to put it in the square below. If not they threw it back into the magnet “pond”. Â
– Once a group of four is filled, give them a new card and see who fills up the most cards! If your kiddo isn’t ready for beginning sounds you could always right the letters in the box before and have them do simple letter matching. And as always, you can make it simpler by only using a few cards and letters at a time.
You can grab your own copy of Magnet Match when you become an email subscriber! Just enter your information below and then look for the pink download button.
