Alphabet Zoo Activity
One of our favorite summer activities is going to the zoo which is what inspired this alphabet zoo activity! I live in Nebraska and we are so lucky to have one of the best zoos in the country! Seeing all the different animals in fascinating! So this week we are turning into zookeepers and we are going to get our alphabet zoos in order!

What You Need:
-FREE Printable Zoo Match (at the end of this post)
–Laminatator and Laminating Packets– I highly recommnd this one.
How To Play:
-First, print off your FREE Alphabet Zoo Match printable, laminate and cut apart. If you have never invested in a laminating machine, DO IT!!! I use it a lot and I love this one!! Laminating will make the cards reusable, but if you prefer not to, you can turn this into a cut and paste activity.
Next, you will need to add velcro dots to each part of the eventual match. Pick one side of the velcro dots for the Zoo cages and the other side for the animal cards.
Now, you are ready for your child to play! I told my daughter that all the animals escaped from their cages at the zoo! I need her to help me put them back in their homes! And she dove in finding the correct cage for each animal.
These cards are matching uppercase to uppercase so they are great for beginners! If all the cards are overwhelming, don’t forget you can always just give them 5-7 matches at a time. And of course, say the letter name for each match you find! If they don’t know, tell them! Consistent exposure will eventually lead to mastry!
If you prefer to work on beginning sounds, I have also included a version of the animal cards that does not have the cage letter listed on it. The child can identify the animal and it’s beginning sound and then match it to the correct cage!
