Thanksgiving Handwriting Cards

I have been wanting to share these Thanksgiving Handwriting cards with you all for the last two weeks, but you know life with a newborn is unpredictable!!  But I am sitting here at my table now with my little guy sleeping in his carrier on my chest, so I am going to make this post happen for you all!!  I have really been trying to work with my 4 year old on handwriting now.  It’s like reality hit and I realized we have less than a year until this guy is in preschool!  Time to get serious about learning our letters!

What You Need:

– Thanksgiving Handwriting Cards (Free at the end of this post)

– Laminator

– Laminating Sheets

– Dry Erase Markers

-Hole Punch and metal rings (optional)

How to Play:

First, print off your Thanksgiving Handwriting Cards.  I would HIGHLY recommend you laminate these.  If you plan on working with your child at home, do yourself a favor and buy a laminator.  They really aren’t as expensive as I thought they would be and I have had the same laminator for probably 6 years and it is still going strong!  I can vouch for THIS kind, because it’s what we use.  So once you have your cards printed off, go ahead and laminate each sheet.

Each page you print contains 4 smaller cards.  Go ahead and cut out the cards once you have laminated the larger sheet.  I then hold punched them in the corner and put a metal ring through so I could keep each set together and organized.

You will notice I have included a few different sets so it can work for a variety of skill levels.  First, I have capital letter tracing cards.  There is a card for each capital letter and the goal is just to trace the letters.  This is where I am starting my son at.  Tracing is SOOO much easier to start with than independent writing!  It’s a great way to learn how to make the letter together.

The next set of cards is capital letters also, but it begins to explore that independent writing.  Each card has one capital letter to trace and then space for your child to write several more letters on their own.

The next set of cards is for lowercase letters.   I have both versions for lowercase letters too!  The first with just letters to trace and then the second with one letter trace and space for your child to write independently.

The final set of cards is for those who want to practice both upper and lowercase letters!  These cards give one uppercase and one lowercase letter example to trace and then space to write both letters independently.  Even one of my older daughters asked to try these cards out!  We hope you enjoy these and have a blessed Thanksgiving season.  And don’t forget to check out my other Thanksgiving activities below if you are looking for more Thanksgiving learning fun!!
