O is for Octopus!  We are on to Letter O Week in our Homeschool Preschool!    Make sure you are following me on Instagram so you get a day by day recap of all the letter activites we are doing!

Our first letter activity today was super easy to set up and it also helped review several letters we have already learned.  That’s a big bonus in my book!

Supplies you will need:

Gallon Ziploc Bag

Hair gel

– Small alphabet beads

-Sharpie marker

Step One- Use your Sharpie Marker and draw a picture of on Octopus on your Ziploc Bag.  Then put one letter on each of the legs of the octopus.  I used a few letters I knew my daughter would be confident in and a few letters that although we have learned about them, still need some practice!

Step Two- Search for the Alphabet Beads you need!  We did two of each of the letters I used on the octopus.  If you want to make it a little harder you could throw in some letters that you didn’t use on the octopus too!

Step Three- Fill your bag up with gel, dump your alphabet beads in, zip it closed and mix it all around!  You don’t need a ton of gel for this either.  I used about half of my bottle and it worked great!

Step Four- Let you child play!  Show them how to push the letter bead down to the matching letter leg!

After only a minute my daughter asked me, “Can we do this again tomorrow?”  I think that means it was a hit!

You could extend this activity by writing lowercase letters on the legs and having them match uppercase to lowercase.  Or you could work on numbers and have them push the correct number of beads to a leg.  The possibilities are endless!!!  Enjoy!
