One more activity to round out Letter H week at our house!  This one should make all the little boys out there happy because they have a chance to hit things while they learn!  My girls had a pretty fun time too.  Honestly, I love it when we can find any way to get our body active while we are learning!  I am going to show you today how we played this game outside, but if the weather doesn’t allow you to get outside, you could always make a small version of this with a poster board and a play hammer!

What You Need:

-Alphabet Hammer Printable (Free at the end of this post)

-Some type of play hammer- We just used pool noodles like these because we were outside and they would be safe!

Bucket or Basket

Sidewalk Chalk

OR

Poster board and Marker

Scissors

How to Play:

-First, print and cut apart the Alphabet Hammer cards.  Put all the cards in a bucket or basket of some sort.

-On a large area of sidewalk, write each letter of the alphabet with sidewalk chalk.  Make sure to spread out the letters so they aren’t right on top of each other!

– Have your child draw one Alphabet Hammer card.  Give them a hammer (or pool noddle in our case) and have them finding the matching letter and hammer it!

– We are still working on matching uppercase and lowercase so I wrote the letters in lowercase and had them find the match to the uppercase card.  As always, though, you do whatever is best for your child!

– Continue going until all the letters have been found and hit!  If you are playing indoor,  just write your letters on a poster board and use a play hammer!
