Aluminum Foil Manicures for Kids

These aluminum foil manicures started because when my girls were little, I realized how nail polish was great for their fine motor practice!  It’s paint that comes with a little kid sized brush!  I mean, that’s genius, right?  I have always enjoyed letting my girls paint their nails independently even if it didn’t look the greatest, but with this activity, I thought we would mix it up a little bit.

What You Need to Play Aluminum Foil Manicures:

Aluminum Foil

Sharpie Markers

Nail polish

Rainbow Potion for Preschool

How To Play:

First, you will want to get your tin foil ready.  You could definitely do this on regular paper or another material, but tin foil is nice and smooth and there is something about that shiny quality that my kids really love.  Tear off a large enough piece so both of your childs hands can fit with fingers spread out on it.

Next you will want to trace the outline of both hands.  If your kids are old enough, let them trace their own hands.  It doesn’t matter if it looks perfect!!  You can also add a small rounded area at the end of each finger for the fingernail.

The fun is ready to begin now!  Let your child pick the polish they want to use and paint the nails on the foil.  My kids had fun using different colors.  This would be a great way to experiment with color mixing too.  When they are done encourage them to paint other pictures around the hands too!
