Thanksgiving Dinner Playdough Mats

Thanksgiving Dinner Playdough Mats

This week I have some cute Thanksgiving Dinner Playdough Mats for you all!!  If you are thinking what in the world does playdough have to do with education, then let me tell you!  One of the more complicated skills for our preschoolers is the physical act of writing.  It requires a great amount of fine motor skills and muscle strength.  The squeezing, cutting, and molding that is involved in using playdough using all these same skills and muscles in a fun and non-threatening way!!

What You Need for Thanksgiving Playdough Mats:

– Thanksgiving Playdough Mats Printable (free at the end of the post!)

Playdough

-Playdough Tools (optional)

How to Play:

Print off the Thanksgiving Playdough Mats.  Grab some playdough and start playing!! Each mat has a different number and has a matching amount of a Thanksgiving food!  Your child can use the playdough to create the correct number of the Thanksgiving food!

I picked simple foods so your child should be able to create a similar shape even if they are young or have more fine motor challenges!  You can enjoy some pretend play together and “cook” Thanksgiving dinner together while you play!

And of course you can also practice counting the food and build those counting and number recognition skills.  I can’t wait to pull these out this month and play with my little guy!  I hope you enjoy your Thanksgiving “cooking” too!
