Alphabet Cellphone Activity

Before you go too crazy, no this Alphabet Cellphone Activity does not involve your child actually using a cellphone!  But I am sure like your children, I see how my toddler is so intrigued by my cell phone!  Today he actually snagged mine when I wasn’t looking and I found it during naptime inside his play kitchen!  So why not use that curiosity to learn something together!

What You Need for Alphabet Cellphone Activity:

-Alphabet Cellphone Printable (free at the end of this post)

–Marker

–Scissors

–Phone or Tablet with a Random Name Picker Site Pulled Up

How to Play:

Print off and cut apart the Alphabet Cellphone cards and the recording sheet.  Now you will want to grab your phone or tablet and pull up a random name generator site.  We used https://wheelofnames.com/.  You will want to enter each letter of the alphabet in as a separate “name”.  Now you are ready to play!!

Let your child click to spin the wheel and see which letter it picks!!  Identify the letter picked together and then let your toddler search for the matching cellphone card! The uppercase, lowercase and a beginning sound picture are all included on the cell phone card. 

Now you can let your child find the matching letter on the recording sheet and trace the letter.  Now, make sure you click to remove the letter picked from your name picker too!

Ways to Modify this Activity:

As with most activities, there are many ways you could modify this to match your child’s abilities!

1. I have included both uppercase and lowercase recording sheets! You could stick with matching uppercase to uppercase or make it more of a challenge and match uppercase to lowercase.

2.  You can also choose not to use the recording sheet.  If writing is too much for your child, just focus on finding and identify the letter and the matching cell phone!
