St. Patrick’s Comparing Numbers Activity

This St. Patrick’s Comparing Numbers Activity will be my last new St. Patrick’s themed activity for the year!  I love this one because it helps kids practice a whole list of math skills!!  They obviously will be practicing comparing numbers, but they also will get practice using ten frames, and counting using one to one correspondance.

What You Need:

– Printable Lucky Leprechauns Game (Free at the end of this post)

-Gold Coins or Yellow Pom Poms

– Scissors

How to Play:

Print out the free Lucky Leprechaun game board, player card, and coin cards.  Cut apart the player cards and the coin cards.  Gather up some plastic gold coins or some yellow pom poms for the game.

Put the coin cards face down in two different piles.  Now it’s time to play!!  Each player turns over the first card from their coin card pile and places it on the one of the white square on their pot of gold.  You will notice that the leprechauns on the player cards match the leprechauns on the mat so they can use the matching pot each round.

Now let each player identify their number and fill their player card with the same amount of coins or pom poms.  Which number is bigger?  That player wins that round!  Repeat those steps each round.  The first player to win five rounds wins!
