Pumpkin Patch Alphabet Activity

I am so excited to give you this pumpkin patch alphabet activity this week!  This was the first brand new activity I rolled out after the birth of our fourth child so it has a special place in my heart!  I don’t know about you, but we love doing holiday themed activities!  My kids are always so excited about Halloween so why not capitalize on that excitement to get some learning time in?

What You Need:

– Pumpkin Patch Letters (Free at the end of this post)

– Sensory Bin Filler (or other green filler of your choice)

– Sensory bin container

– Scissors

– Mini pumpkin erasers (or pumpkin candies)

How to Play Pumpkin Patch Alphabet Activity:

First, print off your Pumpkin Patch Letters.  Cut apart the pumpkin letters and get your sensory bin prepared.  We used black beans this year to make it, but in the past we have used green filler to make it feel more like a pumpkin patch!

Next, put the pumpkin letters in your sensory bin.  Spread them out so your kiddo has fun searching through the sensory material.  Also, lay out the pumpkin patch paper and mini erasers or pumpkin candy for your child to use.

Now it’s time to play!  Let your child search through the sensory bin and find a pumpkin letter card.  When they find a card let them tell you what letter they found and then find it on the pumpkin patch paper.  Then use one of your mini erasers to cover up the letter that was found! Continue until all the pumpkin cards are found and letters are covered.

Want more movement?  You could hide the cards around your house and let them pick a pumpkin from the “patch”!  Identify the letter and then cover the mat!  Happy learning!!
