If you have read my About Me section already, you may have noticed that my husband and I are the Children’s Ministry Directors at our church. Today I want to share with you one of the things we have implemented with our volunteers and give you a printable freebie too!
One of the things I continue to learn in ministry is that prayer is essential! We have started doing something this year in our children’s ministry that I am confidently expecting to see God move through! We have about 8 people who serve in a rotation in each of our children’s ministry classrooms. We assigned anywhere from 1 to 3 students to each of our volunteers and asked them to commit to praying for these students, by name, at least one time a week. So each child in our ministry has a volunteer who is personally praying for them throughout the whole year.
Now, I know the reality of prayer is that we can start with good intentions, but life and busy schedules, and just the passing of time can make our commitment (and memories!) falter. To try to help our forgetful minds, I, as the director, have committed to emailing a reminder once a week to each of our volunteers. I have asked the volunteers when they see that email come through on their phone or computer, to just stop and take a few minutes to pray for their students. I am excited to see what the Lord will do as we are committed to praying for our kids!
What do you do to make sure your kids at church are being covered in prayer? If you are looking for some help, I am including a freebie below for you! Below is the prayer card I made for our volunteers. It gives a few suggestions about what we can pray for, and can serve as another visual reminder to pray! Enjoy!!
