Do you struggle with working on handwriting with your kiddos? I personally don’t force handwriting when my kids are young. More often I think forcing handwriting creates bad habits. But, my 3 year old loves to trace things and we work on letter formation in lots of informal fun ways. So today, I want to share with you one of the activities we have done to not only help us learn our letter names, but also start forming those letters through tracing.
We played Race To the Top! In this game you use a pencil and paperclip to make a spinner.
Your child spins and whatever color the spinner lands on you trace the next letter in that column. Keep going until one row gets to the top and is the winner!!
Want to give it a try with your kiddo? Below, I have included for free my Letter A version of Race To the Top. This Letter A Version is included in my Letter A Weekly Plans (which is free!). It features just the letter A.
If you and your kiddo are loving this activity make sure you check out my full Race to the Top packet from my Teachers Pay Teachers Store. It includes all the letters of the alphabet, for even more fun!
Enjoy!
