Free Christmas Tree Fine Motor Activity

It’s the holiday season and this Christmas Tree Fine Motor Activity will fit right in with all your holiday parties, Christmas treats, songs, and decorations.  Fine motor activities are such a life saver during this busy season!  It is so easy for us to overlook these very important skills.  But one of the best things about fine motor activities is once your child knows what to do, they can often complete them fairly independently.  And this fine motor activity is no exception.  And the best part is you can use them in so many different ways depending on what materials you have in your house!

What You Need:

Christmas Tree Fine Motor Printable (Free at the end of this post)

Scissors

Beads, Mini Erasers, Pom Poms, or Dot Markers

How to Play:

First, print and cut apart the Christmas Tree Fine Motor cards.  Then gather up whatever fine motor supplies you want to use.  There are so many options that would work with these cards.  We used pony beads and mini erasers to start with.

Different Ways to Play

You can show your child how to use whatever small objects you choose to line up on the tree.  At the end of the time you will have a decorated tree!!!  We also used small pom poms.  These would be more of a challenge for an older preschooler because they are more likely to move around on the card as you are working.  If you have sequins, small bows, or you could also make little “ornaments” out of playdough and line them up on the cards.

One of the last ways we used these cards is to use dot markers to follow the line and create our own ornaments.  You could also use dot stickers to do something similar.  If you have an older preschooler you could even start to experiment with patterns!  Or just let them have fun and use those fine motor muscles as they pick up, grip, peel stickers or dot in just the right place!  And don’t forget that all that fun is developing important skills they will use everyday as they grow!
