What You Need for these St. Patrick’s Coin Counting:
– St. Patrick’s Coin Counting printable (Free for newsletter subscribers at the end of this post.)
How To Play:
– First, print off your Coin Counting Cards and Recording sheet. Cut apart the Coin Counting Cards. There are several different ways you can use this freebie. Depending on the age and ability level of your child, you can pick whichever variation is best for you! First, you can use these as just simple counting cards. Your child can pick on card and use Corn Pops cereal as their “gold pieces.” Have your child put a cereal piece on each gold coin on the card and then count the total! This options would be good for younger children that are working on one to one correspondence but aren’t really ready for number recognition.
Another Option:
The next option is to do a St. Patrick’s Day search and dot! Put the coin cards around your house and let your child go search for them! For each card they find have them count the gold coins and then dot the matching number on the recording sheet. This option is great for kids that thrive with movement!
The last option is to put it all together. You can let your child add the Corn Pops to the counting card. Count the gold pieces and then dot the corresponding number on the recording sheet. This is a great option for kids that are ready to put it all together! If you want to take it another step you could make your own recording sheet with match equations and have your child dot the equation that equals the number of gold pieces! So many ways to play and learn!
