It’s time to finish off our Letter J Week here on the blog! And with two girls, I couldn’t help but have a jewel themed activity! This activity will help your kiddos get some pre-writing practice with their letters, and I even made it in two different variations for those just beginning and those ready for a challenge.
How to Play:
-First, of course you will want to print off and cut apart your Jewel Writing Alphabet Printable. Both my girls were playing so I printed off two different versions. But if you only need one, save some paper and only print one!!
-Next, grab your craft jewels and show you kiddos how they can use the jewels to make each letter. Then let them go!! The first version my younger daughter did. It has the uppercase letter written out on one side, and the matching lowercase letter on the other side. We were working on matching upper and lowercase letters! But all she had to do was place the jewel on the lowercase letter. She really wanted to glue her jewels on so I went with it, but you definitely don’t need to glue them down!
– The more advanced version has the letter example for them and then a blank spot where they can make the letter on their own. My big girl was ready for this one! She made a matching uppercase letter all on her own! I also made a version that has the uppercase letter on both sides!
– One other word of advice, I wouldn’t expect your child to do all of the letters in one sitting. You could either pick a few letters they have been working on, or set a certain amount of time for them to work on whichever letters they choose. This would be perfect for a center in a classroom too. They can work for the length of the center and then move on!
